Solar Powered Jobs!
With the limited amount of fossil fuels, green technologies like solar power are the next logical step in the evolution of energy.
So why is solar so lucrative? Solar is the only renewable energy that the local, state, and federal governments offer incentives and rebates for. Solar is also the safest and cleanest form of energy. Not only does it have an endless supply of energy that comes directly from the sun, it is also the easiest to provide directly to customers.
With the green energy movement taking a big foothold in people’s lives today, and as people become more aware of environmental problems that come from fossil fuels, solar power is seeing a huge increase in demand.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the solar power industry has experienced rapid growth in the past decade.
“According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), total U.S. solar electric capacity surpassed 2,000 megawatts in 2009, enough to power over 350,000 homes,” according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report. “However, the Solar Foundation, a nonprofit organization, estimates that in August 2010, 93,000 workers spent more than half of their work hours on projects related to solar power. The solar industry includes workers in science, engineering, manufacturing, construction, and installation. Manufacturing workers make the equipment used in solar power generation, such as mirrors and panels. Construction workers build solar power plants. Electricians, plumbers, and solar photovoltaic installers install residential and commercial solar projects. The Solar Foundation estimates that the largest growth in the solar industry in 2011 will be in occupations in solar installation, including photovoltaic installers and electricians and roofers with experience in solar installation.”
This translates into solar power jobs. Today’s solar companies have already seen a huge demand and many are seeking people that have the knowledge to install and repair these types of solar systems.
Solar companies are seeking the right people to employ and the demand has been increasing at an amazing rate. The future direction of jobs is in the solar industry.
